I used to wear my Apple Watch every day, but lately I’ve been leaving it on the charger more often. Do you still wear yours daily, or has the novelty worn off?
Still wear mine every day, but I use it pretty differently now. Tbh, I barely care about notifications anymore. Apple Pay is probably one of the things I use most, especially if I’m just running out for coffee or whatever. Timers, music controls and quick replies too. It’s just nice not having to pull my phone out for every little thing.
I actually stopped wearing mine daily after switching to a Garmin Fenix 8. Got way more into running and longer hikes, and the Garmin just fits that stuff better for me. Battery was a big part of it too. I can go a few days without thinking about charging it, which spoiled me pretty fast. Ended up giving my old Apple Watch to my wife since she still likes the Apple stuff.
I’ve actually been wearing mine a lot more lately because I’ve been running pretty much every day. I started using Strava with it and now I’m kinda invested in my pace
. I’ll leave my phone at home, do my run, then check the splits after. A few weeks ago I went out planning to do an easy 3 miles and somehow turned it into 6 because I was trying to beat my pace from the week before. Honestly, that’s probably the most use I’ve gotten out of the Watch.
That’s pretty much where I’m stuck. I still like having it on for walks and workouts, but I don’t really care about seeing every notification anymore. I guess I’m wondering if I just need to change how I use it instead of giving up on wearing it every day.
For me it was mostly the charging. I’d take it off at night, forget about it, then wake up and realize it was at like 10%.
Now I just put it on the charger when I shower or get ready. Usually gets me through the day, so I stopped stressing about the battery.
I mostly keep mine on for the activity/health tracking. I started messing around with Athlytic too, and that’s probably the one thing that got me checking the Watch more often again. I don’t obsess over the numbers or anything, but it’s kinda cool seeing how a hard workout affects recovery. I also killed most of the notifications. Made a bigger difference than I expected tbh. I don’t need every email or random app alert buzzing my wrist all day.
Sleep tracking is probably the main thing keeping mine on at night. I used to think I wouldn’t care about it, but now I like having the alarm tap my wrist instead of my phone going nuts across the room. And yeah, the less I treat it like a tiny iPhone, the more I like it. Calls + a few messages are enough for me. Everything else is basically muted.
Yeah, I think I’ve been using mine too much like a second phone. The Strava thing actually sounds pretty useful since I’ve been walking more lately. Might give that a shot, turn off most of the notifications and see if I get back into wearing it regularly.
Maybe I just need to stop expecting it to be useful for everything lol.
